Thailand’s Best Beaches

Thailand has fast become a popular destination for holidaymakers, thanks to the liveliness and excitement of its cities and towns and the opportunity to really relax and unwind on one of the country’s many stunning beaches. Once you arrive in Thailand, you will probably be tempted to hit the beach straight away. The beaches here are long, with white sand and warm waters - and with so many great locations available you could be spoiled for choice.

Where to Go

When deciding which part of the Thai coast is best for you, it helps to think about what you want on a beach. For example, Patong Beach in Phuket is a lively, popular destination. The coastline is wide and offers lots of action. You can find the perfect beach activity to keep you occupied and there are plenty of hotels, restaurants and shops located close by so you will never be bored. And at night the beach comes alive with a vibrant party atmosphere. If you prefer something slightly different from Patong, try Kata Beach in Phuket instead. The surrounding palm trees, warm water, and stunning scenery bring a more laid-back feel to this beach. There are very few hotels in the area so you can really relax and unwind here.

Family-Friendly Beaches

If you are traveling with the family you might want to try Hua Hin Beach, which is popular with both locals and visitors alike. Hua Hin is long and flat so it lends itself well to all sorts of beach activities for the kids and the young at heart. The beach also has a gentle slope that leads down into the water, making it a great place for the children to play safely whatever their age. This beach is also close to Bangkok, so it can make the perfect stop-off after an excursion to the city.

Diving

If it isn’t so much about what is on the shore but more about what is under the water, then Sairee Beach in Koh Tao is just what you are looking for. It is the perfect place for diving and discovering all that the ocean has to offer. Sairee Beach offers over a mile of picture-perfect coastline, with a white sandy beach and amazing views of the other small islands. Although it is becoming more popular as a beach destination, it still remains relatively uncrowned and has a selection of inexpensive hotels and restaurants located nearby.

Parties

But for party animals, the perfect beach destination is Haad Rin in Koh Pha Ngan. It is known locally as the party beach because it plays host to a monthly Full Moon Party, where you can drink, dance, and listen to live music. During the day it is also lively as it is a great place for swimming and other fun beach activities. Although there are a few hotels and restaurants, it is generally undeveloped and a perfect beach to visit again and again. Hopefully, you’ve been tempted by the amazing beaches mentioned above and will be adding Thailand to your itinerary.
