Top Ten Things to Do On a Myrtle Beach Vacation

Myrtle Beach is one of the most popular summer vacation destinations with over 14 million people visiting a year. And one of the biggest reasons those people come to Myrtle Beach is because of the wide variety of things to do there. Here are just some of the top things to do while on your Myrtle Beach vacation.

The Beach

Myrtle Beach

This is pretty obvious, but the Atlantic Ocean and its sandy shores are a big reason people come to Myrtle Beach, and spending hours in the water or lounging in the sun should be at the top of your To-Do list. And all of the best resorts in Myrtle Beach are located oceanfront so you’ll only have to walk a few feet before your feet are in the sand.

The Boardwalk

If need a bit of a break from the sand then you only need to walk a few more feet to the new Myrtle Beach boardwalk. From the boardwalk, you can enjoy the views of the beach while you’re strolling, window shopping, or looking for a great place to get a snack. Also, as part of the boardwalk experience, you should take a ride on the Sky Wheel and see Myrtle Beach from above!

Museums

There are a few different kinds of museums you can experience on those rare rainy days in Myrtle Beach, or if you’ve just had enough of the sun. From a classic, small art museum to the “odditorium” where you can see things from Ripley’s Believe It or Not that will shock and amaze you.

Rides

There are a few different amusement parks that you can visit while on your vacation, either as an after-dinner event or as a way to spend a day. There’s the classic family amusement park at Broadway at the Beach, the Pavilion Nostalgia Park, and there’s also the Family Kingdom Amusement park. Or, if you just want to experience one or two rides, there are a few zip lines and slingshots around the beach that are sure to get your blood pumping.

Golf

Myrtle Beach is a big golf destination, with over 100 different courses to choose from. So whether you’re a regular golfer or have always wanted to learn, taking some time on your vacation to hit the greens is a fantastic idea.

Gardens and Parks

You don’t have to take a total vacation from learning while in Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach State Park offers walking trail courses that will let you appreciate the beauty of the area, and maybe teach you a thing or two. Or you can head a bit further south to Brookgreen Gardens and marvel at the beauty of the former rice plantations and the sculptures and plants that have been bringing people to the gardens for years and years.

See the Animals

You can also get up close and personal with many different kinds of animals. There’s the Ripley Aquarium where you can learn about different kinds of fish and water creatures, as well as the T.I.G.E.R reserve where you can see Tigers, Lions, Cheetahs, Elephants, Monkeys, and more.

Waterparks

Finding ways to keep cool is important during the summer in Myrtle Beach and thankfully there are a few different water parks, including Myrtle Waves, South Carolina’s largest water park, and Wild Water & Wheels, which has not only a water park but also a full go-cart track, mini-golf, and bumper cars!

Eat

The Myrtle Beach area is also known for the variety of seafood you can get here. There’s the classic Calabash-style seafood served in the northern Myrtle Beach sections (closer to Calabash, North Carolina, where this type of food-derived its name) and the fresh-caught, classic seafood in the former fishing village of Murrells Inlet. But seafood isn’t all Myrtle Beach has-it’s also home to the only Ethiopian restaurant in all of South Carolina, and any other kind of food you can think of can be found in Myrtle Beach.

Nothing

Of course, one of the best things about being on vacation is that you don’t HAVE to do anything. And Myrtle Beach can make it really easy to do that as well.
